Hello OZZ, Your sight is very good but technical. Your subject divisions are excellent for exploring your site. I will be teaching Middle School students beginning guitar. We are using the Hal Leonard method. Could I project some of your pages for classroom use only? Let me know what you think... Thanks. Mike Miller, Uijongbu / S. Korea 08 August 2007

Good Day Durga, I would to congratulate on a job well done. I was teaching beginning guitar in West Palm Beach, Florida in the adult education venue. I made a book and CD for the class that in essence very close to your way of teaching. I have been a guitar instructor for 35 years. I was asked to perform the renaissance lute at Texas A &M Commerce. Your true teacher --- Joe Rosochacki, Texas/ US 08 August, 2007

Dear Durga, I certainly found your website to be a useful ‘one stop’ reference for the rudiments of music and basic guitar instruction. You have collated so much material- it’s a veritable book in itself. Staff / TAB notation is particularly relevant today. Guitarists with insufficient time or inclination to become a sufficiently ‘fingerboard fluent’ can play from it virtually immediately. Personally, from my earliest self-taught efforts on the guitar I have always tried to write my own music. As a consequence I’ve never had the time to learn the classical repertoire or fine- hone my sight reading skills. I write music mainly ‘by ear’, though I have mountains of sheets of Staff / TAB notation- music sketches of partially formed pieces. When the inspiration strikes, I usually keep the music in my head, committing it to paper using Staff / TAB notation once I have finished a piece. I do enjoy listening to interesting and ‘different’ guitarists; I find it fun comparing the styles of, for example, Narcisso Yepes to that of Segovia. Or even a plectrum jazz guitarist, as opposed to Roland Dyens playing jazz. Very recently I was introduced to the guitar ‘fireworks’ of Tommy Emmanuel- try the comparison of his playing to that of most folk guitarists. I write my music by ‘trial and error’- nothing planned- the antitheses of the intellectual process, delighting in continuously searching for new right hand techniques, vibrant rhythms or discords, and where possible, beautiful melodies. My inspiration comes from many sources, perhaps a personal experience, though sometimes even the simple guitar studies that my wife plays can whet my appetite, and I have written variations on these. Spain, where we have lived for the last two years (after thirty five years in South Africa) also greatly inspires me. The music, culture, the architecture and the colourful Spanish people I find truly fascinating. A local flamenco guitarist and I have written some duets which takes my music off in a new direction, and I am currently writing a suite based on our nearest beautiful pueblo, Montefrio, in Granada. Also I have a website http://clivedavies.eu/default.aspx that you might like to have a look at- it has some examples of my music that you can listen to. I look forward to hearing the music that you plan to display on your website. Isn’t the internet fabulous. Kind Regards, Clive Davies –Spain 31 Aug. 2007
